Healthy Eating Habits.

In my previous blog, I talked about staying slim and healthy, to have a slim body and an ideal weight and it was mostly about Aerobics. Before I write about aerobic exercises in my next blog, I would like to mention in this blog that to achieve a beatiful body you also need to look into your eating habits. Staying slim and healthy by excercising and eating healthy food should be one of the priorities if you want to maintain an ideal weight. There are also the do's and the dont's.

What do you think about food? Is it something that fills your stomach when you are hungry or is it nourishment for your body or both. You must first carefully select the type of food you eat daily, so it can supply the required nourishment to keep you healthy. Healthy eating habits can be learned and also inculcated into family members as nourishment and not just gulping food during short breaks or before rushing for work or a meeting.

It is always good to eat with family members and friends whenever you can. Cultivating such habits bring several benefits especially to children which allows us to model a healthy eating habit. Eating in front of a TV or computer often produces a negative effect becuase your concentration is divided between the TV and your food and in this case, the TV gets the upper hand thus your concentration in your meal is affected which may lead to overeating.

It is always good to eat moderately in small portions more often instead of sticking to your three meals a day routine which may also lead to overeating. Eat slowly and taste your food. This will allow your brain to signal your body that it had enough food. Eating smaller meals throughout the day has it's benefits. A healthy breakfast to jumpstart your metabolism and smaller meals throughout the day keeps your energy up and your metabolism going.

Fill your plate with colorful vegetable and fruits which are the foundation to a healthy diet. They are low in calories and nutrient dense, packed with minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and fibre. Make fruits and vegetables as part of your everyday diet and this should be your first choice of snack. The antioxidants and other nutrients in fruits and vegetables help to protect us against certain types of cancer and other diseases.

Don't forget to follow my next blog in a day or two.
